Kayaking in Uganda

by Mike Dawson

The white nile is the worlds largest river flowing out of lake Victoria in Uganda and winding it's way north through Africa to end up in Egypt. This river is home to some of the sickest waves that you can surf in a kayak, as well as some staunch rapids mostly in the upper stretch of the river, which is a popular destination kayaking spot. I headed here from Zambezi for the Nile Fest, which got cut due to funding, but still 100 or so paddlers turned out for a fun event down the river, and pig on the spit!

I've been checking out the freestyle scene surfing on Nile Special and hair of the dog waves for some epic aerial action. Check out the pics!

En-route back to the mother land. Will catch up shortly. Take it easy.
