Žbogar beated only by Scott

20212 10152983062744340 7382378965723657092 nProbably the most important sailing World Cup regatta has finished this Sunday in Hyeres, France. It was a really difficult event with lots of up and downs for all the sailors due to unstable winds.

In the last posted article on our website we have mentioned that our long time athlete Vasilij Žbogar got a new boat and that it is superbly fast. Žbogar, two times olympic medallist in Laser class, has proved these sayings completely true by winning the second position overall. The winner of the event was Brit Giles Scott proving that he still is the best sailor in this most elite sailing class.

Žbogar commented: “It was a hard week, but I am very happy to finish in second place. The level in the Finn is very high and to be in front you have to push very hard. I very happy to improve my speed in stronger winds which was the goal for this regatta. With a bit of a luck in some of the races in light wind I could have been closer to Giles for the medal race.”

Third place went to another Brit Edward Wright. Sandiliner Ivan Kljaković Gašpić finished 6th and Jonathan Lobert in 9th place.

In the Laser class the overall win went to Australia to Tom Burton, while our new team member Jesper Stalheim from Sweeden just missed the podium by a few points. Be sure to remember his name as we are sure he will excel at next events.
