Miami hosted first World Cup Regatta of the year

Miami, known for nice weather and moderate winds, this time offered really light winds that didn’t provide enough wind to finish all planned races. In Laser Standard class, where majority of top sailors were present, gold medal went to Croatian Tonči Stipanović. Sandiliner Charlie Buckingham from USA finished in 9th place and Filip Jurišič from Croatia one place behind him. This was the first top 10 result for this young talented sailor from Split.

Giles Scott won in the Finn class among 37 sailors, while our only team member taking part of the regatta was Ivan Kljakovič Gašpič who finished in 7th place.

Participation in other classes wasn’t so good, probably due to high travel costs. Other Sandiline team members therefore decided to stay in Europe and train for upcoming World Cups. First one will take place in Spain in the end of March.
